Take our Free tour: across Prague Castle & Charles bridge to discover one of the most important areas of the city. First, we walk across the world-famous Charles Bridge, crossing over to Mala Strana (Lesser Town), the beautiful Baroque quarter. We then visit Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world, and see St Vitus Cathedral.

During this 3-hour free walking tour, we will cover 2 of Prague’s historical areas. You look out on the entire city from some of the best viewpoints in Prague. All this in one Free Tour – don’t miss out!

Tour Description

Over 600 years ago, a man who became a king had ambitions to reign over the biggest empires in Europe as Emperor. He decided to build a city worthy of being a capital, a city that would be known throughout the world over for centuries to come. This man was Charles IV. The city was Prague.

In our free Castle Tour, we will start our adventure with one of the most magnificent architectural marvels, the Charles Bridge. This landmark has united the two sides of the city since the 14th century and is one of Charles IV’s greatest achievements.

From there, we make our way via tram to Prague Castle, just like the locals! The castle is on a fortified location on a hill – overlooking the entire city for centuries. Once atop, we wander through this district, then through the walls into the castle grounds themselves. It is the largest castle complex in the world. Get ready to roam through picturesque courtyards: learn about legendary figures like Rudolph II, Holy Roman Emperor, who was at once a madman and great king, and Maria Theresa, a Hapsburg who brought freedom to the women of Bohemia.

We encounter the impressive Cathedral of St Vitus. Discover the thousand-year-long history of the lands where this cathedral sits today, its secrets and stories.

Scott is an amazing story teller. He is full of historical knowledge which he keenly shares. We joined his tour of the old town and Jewish quarter at first and also decided to come back the next day for the castle tour. It was equally as interesting and engaging. He also gave us an extensive list of suggestions on where to go for food, tourist spots etc. I would recommend to go for one of the tours when you just arrive Prague for a general overview.

I went on three Tours with Verneus Tours, with Isard, Scott and Sarah: to the Old Town & Jewish Quarter, New Town and The Castle in Prague earlier this week. We took 2 walking tours with Mel and she was great. Just the right level of detail about the history and sites of Prague. The tour was interspersed with local tips and the right level of humour. She always made sure the group kept up. She showed us how to use the public transport system. Told us about herself which is always nice to get to know the guide. Only intended to do one tour but as Mel was leading the castle tour in afternoon we decided to join that too.

Even though I live in Prague for more than a month I got a very different and magical vibe of the city though Scott's beautiful narrations. He is a great guide who managed to keep my interest for the whole tour, gave us important information about the city and useful recommendations for places to visit. I really enjoyed and I'll definitely join another tour!

Vandaag een mooie tour door het oude gedeelte en de Joodse wijk gelopen. Dylan was onze gids. Het was zeer aangenaam om naar hem te luisteren. Hij had een fijne stem, had voldoende humor ingebouwd, niet te veel. Heel leerzaam. Hij wist je te boeien, je haakte niet af. De tijd was zo om. Een aanrader.

No, the Prague Castle complex is a public area available to all for free.

Our tour is a walking tour, but the Castle sits atop a tall hill, for the ease and comfort of all customers we take the tram to the Castle from Mala Strana, this saves us a 20 min climb up the hill.

You can buy a ticket at any metro station in Prague, including Staromestska Metro near our meeting point. You will need a ticket for at least 30 minutes (30 minute tickets cost 30czk). If you will need the ticket for other journeys in Prague, you can get 24h or 72h tickets at the same place. If you have any doubts, please come to the meeting point a few min early and we can help!

Yes, you are welcome to bring your furry friends with you (they even ride for free on the public transport). The only requirement is that they have a muzzle to enter public transport.

Yes, the guides accept all major forms of currencies (EUR, USD, GBP & more). And most guides also have a card reader, in case you don’t have cash.
