Tour Description

Over 600 years ago, a man who became a king had ambitions to reign over the biggest empires in Europe as Emperor. He decided to build a city worthy of being a capital, a city that would be known throughout the world over for centuries to come. This man was Charles IV. The city was Prague.

In our free Castle Tour, we will start our adventure with one of the most magnificent architectural marvels, the Charles Bridge. This landmark has united the two sides of the city since the 14th century and is one of Charles IV’s greatest achievements.

From there, we make our way via tram to Prague Castle, just like the locals! The castle is on a fortified location on a hill – overlooking the entire city for centuries. Once atop, we wander through this district, then through the walls into the castle grounds themselves. It is the largest castle complex in the world. Get ready to roam through picturesque courtyards: learn about legendary figures like Rudolph II, Holy Roman Emperor, who was at once a madman and great king, and Maria Theresa, a Hapsburg who brought freedom to the women of Bohemia.

We encounter the impressive Cathedral of St Vitus. Discover the thousand-year-long history of the lands where this cathedral sits today, its secrets and stories.

The wealth of history that surrounds the castle is impossible to detail in a short description. The only way to find out more is to join us on our Free Castle Tour!

Accessible by stroller or wheelchair and, of course, the youngest (and furriest) members of the family are welcome too.

Excellent tour by Paria. I really enjoyed her energy, knowledge of Prague, and enthusiasm for her tours. I was recommended Verneus Prague free tours by a tour director and I am so glad I took her advice.

This was a great way to explore the castle area of Prague and also to see and learn about the bridge. We did the tour on a Saturday in October and the city was very crowded including the areas we visited. At times it was difficult to make our way through the crowds. Alexander was a good guide and he gave us the option of visiting the garden at the Prague Castle or watching the changing of the guard (which our group chose). There's nothing the company or the guide can do about the crowds. I recommend doing the tour early on during your visit to Prague so you can decide which buildings, if any, you want to visit later for interior tours. This tour only takes you outside the buildings which was fine for us. The meeting point was easy to find but there were a lot of free tours meeting there at the same time so you have to ask around to find your correct tour.

Dank nogmaals

I was terribly disappointed. The guide was 10 minutes late and then she told us she was doing the old town and Jewish quarter tour and not the one we had booked! And the. She told us to join another walking tour by another company that had already left and that we should hurry and catch up with them. And we tried, but they took a tram and we didn't manage to get to them. And we had planned our entire day according to the tour we had booked at 2.30. I am terribly disappointed and would definitely NOT recommend this tour. In the end, we did the tour of Prazsky hrad and the cathedral by ourselves... below 1 star

He was a nice guide. The tour through the castle was nice to see, but I was missing a bit of information to the attractions. Would recommend, if you have already toured the city and habe a few hours left.
