This tour guides you through the beautiful New Town – a UNESCO World Heritage district built in the 14th century (so not so new!).

During Communism and the Nazi era, events happened in this district that struck the globe. Now is your chance to learn about them. Marvel at the architecture as you learn of Prague’s tumultuous 20th Century.

Tour Description

A tour for architectural fanatics and history buffs alike! Explore Prague’s New Town and learn more about the fascinating history that shaped Prague’s 1900s.

From the Rudolfinum building, we walk to the New Town, learning about the German-Czech conflicts which dominated the early 1900s.

We come to the famous Wenceslas Sq (or Vaclavske Namesti) and stunning National Museum. Stand on the site of Prague’s most famous events in history: the Prague Spring, Velvet Revolution, invasion of 1939.

Continuing on, we see more of New Town’s hidden gems: Art Deco passageways, David Cerny’s modern sculptures, and a secret garden! Our tour then takes us along the river, past the famous National Theater and Art Nouveau riverbank, towards the architectural masterpiece that is the ‘Dancing House’.

Our final stop is perhaps the most dramatic of all: the site where the assassins of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich hid after the famous Anthropoid operation – the Crypt of St Cyril and Methodius. (After the tour, you can see the memorial for the soldiers.)

Join our expert guides to find out why Prague was the epicenter of such turmoil, and how Czech culture prevailed regardless.

Jeremy has been a wonderful guide. His knowledge, his passion and his humour are precious for talking about the XX century in Prague. He's a real storyteller with a solid knowledge. I have only one regret... It wasn't possible to invite him to share a beer !

Jirka was a great tour guide. Funny and relatable. He also took the time to learn where each of us came from and had multiple conversations outside of the ‘tour’ about us and our lives. Really nice person.

Dylan was an amazing tour guide. We came for this of his tours. The New Town 20th Century Prague was our favorite, but old town/jewish quarter and the castle tours were also incredible.

Aris was an amazing guide and very informative. We would love to join one of his tours in the future. While the joke density is not the same as with Scott, it was still a lot of fun and he had no trouble at all keeping out attention.
